The Passenger Record: One Manifest Entry for a Whole Series

Series drift is usually blamed on the model. Read the prompts instead. The character is described from memory at every sitting, and memory edits as it travels: “long chestnut hair” in the first week becomes “flowing brown hair” by the fourth, and the audience watches a stranger quietly take over the feed. The repair is clerical, not technical. Write the woman down once, as a passenger record you paste rather than retype, and let the record do the remembering.

Five entries, in order

A working record holds five things. Age — a number, always 25 or over. Hair — colour, length, one usual style. Build — two or three words, no more. Face — one or two details that endure. Signature — the tattoo, the earring, the mark that survives a crop. Everything else is a scene line: dress, setting, light, pose. Scene lines are meant to change at every port. Entries are not.

Two habits keep the record seaworthy. Entries are stated plainly and positively — “chestnut-brown hair in a high loose bun with two face-framing tendrils” survives generation, while “beautiful hair” is re-interpreted at every attempt. And the record is versioned. When the character is deliberately changed — a new cut, a new signature — the new text is saved as version two, with a date, so an old set can still be remade exactly as it sailed.

Working from it

Production then becomes a calm crossing. Pair the record with scene lines that share one setting and one light, and make the set at the standard model’s 6-credit fare. Keep the best third. Spend on repairs, swaps and upscales only after the cull. When a frame returns off character, the cause is almost always visible on paper: a scene line contradicted an entry, or an entry was too vague to hold her. Both are fixed in the record, not in settings.

What it cannot do

It cannot hold a woman who was never decided. If the entries are adjectives — lovely, striking, perfect — no system will keep her from drifting. Decide her on paper first. The record is not where the imagination happens. It is where the imagination is filed, so the whole crossing can use it.
